COVID-19 Forces DMV Closures and Slow Reopening Process Leaving Essential Truck Driver Classroom Instruction Unavailable in Many States; App Expedites a Solution
Delays in training are exacerbating the driver shortage and when the economy does completely open back up—there will be a backlog. To help expedite a solution, Advanced Training Systems (ATS) is offering a new virtual training app—FREE—to train the next generation of drivers while they are in state lockdown.
Why we created the app: To obtain a commercial license, prospective drivers must master a complex body of information called the pre-trip inspection checklist. ATS developed the app to allow students to study the pre-trip inspection checklist in a solitary setting. This will enable students to study at their own pace, safe from the spread of the virus—and give them the knowledge needed to pass the CDL exam and become a thoroughly trained and safety-conscious driver. I call it a win-win idea.
ATS is offering the app, free of charge, to the entire U.S. driver training industry. As I see it we feel it is critical at this time in history to ensure the app’s widespread availability.
We are a leading designer and manufacturer of virtual simulators for driver training and this resource enables us to leverage our technology as a true education partner in the trucking industry.
